Eligibility Criteria

  • The candidate needs to have at least one year of work experience in the relevant occupation chosen.
  • The occupation of the candidate must fall under any of these three National Occupation classification Categories –
    • Skill Type 0 – Managerial Occupations
    • Skill Level 1 – Professional Occupations
    • Skill Level B – Technical Occupations and Skilled Trades.
  • They must achieve at least 67 points under the point-based skills assessment grid.
  • The candidate must be having a full-time job offer from an eligible Canadian Employer.
  • They must also qualify for the labor Market Impact Assessment.
  • They must have proficiency in the official Canadian languages.
  • They must show proof of having enough funds to support themselves.


Process of Federal Skilled Worker Program

As it is under the Express Entry Program – the process is the same –

  • First, you need to create the Express Entry Profile
  • Make Expression of interest
  • Submit to the CIC
  • CRS will rank your profile
  • If it is ranked high, then you will get ITA for PR in Canada
  • You need to apply for the PR within 60 days of receiving the ITA with IRCC
  • A background check will be done – police verification and health check-up
  • The Visa officer will review the application after a background check
  • If your application is approved, you need to pay the PR fee and request your passport
  • Then you can move to Canada with your family

Selection factors of Federal Skilled Worker Program

The IELTS exam is considered a benchmark for English language proficiency. Applicants will need to show enough proficiency in the language by scoring sufficiently in each segment i.e. Reading, Writing, Speaking, and Listening. The minimum passing grade is 7 as per the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) for the Federal Skilled Worker Program. Additional Points

If you are immigrating with your spouse, then your application can get extra points if your spouse scores above CLB 4. You will receive 5 additional adaptability points as a principle applicant.
