What is Express Entry Program?

The most popular and the fastest immigration program is the Express Entry program. It was introduced in January; 2015. This program is basically for the skilled worker who wants to immigrate to Canada. Under PR visa, there are three basic immigration programs.

  • Federal Skilled Worker (FSW)
  • Federal Skilled Trades (FST)
  • Canadian Experience Class(CEC)

Express Entry program is a point-based immigration program where in order to be eligible,  candidates are required to score a minimum of 67 points out of 100 in the FSWP point assessment grid. These points are awarded based on the following factors:

Age – If the age of the candidate is between 18 -35 years, the candidate can earn 12 points. After age 35, the candidate will lose one point.

Education – The candidate will earn a maximum of 25 points under this category

Work Experience – If the candidate works in Canada, as a skilled and experienced worker in Canada's National Occupation Classification (NOC) skill type-level A, O, or B, at least for1 one year, he or she will be awarded 15 points in this category.

Language Proficiency – 28 points are awarded in this category.24 points are for IELTS and another 4 points are for TEF.

Arranged Employment – If the candidate will get a valid job offer from a Canadian employer, he or she will get a maximum of 10 points under this category.

Adaptability – the candidate will get a maximum of 10 points if his or her spouse will accompany him in the application.

The candidate can start the ECA and IELTS processing only after getting 67 points. The PR visa process through direct invitation may start after clearing the CRS score cut-offs. If any candidate may be eligible for the PNP program instead of the direct invitation program, he or she would not lose hope; they will be nominated by another ten Canadian provinces. The provinces are as below-

  • Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP)
  • New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (NBPNP)

After getting a nomination, the candidate will be awarded 600 CRS points.

The steps of Canada PR visa:

Step 1 – Get ECA: The candidates must have to get their educational credentials assessed by an authorized Canadian Assessing Body for equivalency as per Canadian education.

Step 2 – Complete your IELTS Exam: The candidate need to score in IELTS or a minimum of 6 bands in each module of four main skills that are reading, writing, speaking, and listening.

Step 3 – Create an Express Entry Profile:In the third stage, the candidate has to create an Express Entry profile and have to submit the profile into the Express Entry pool. The profile must be registered under the Federal Government's Express Entry program. The whole process will be done online.

Step 4 – Apply for PNPs (Optional): If the candidate wants to nominate him or herself under any provincial nominee program, he or she must wait for an NOI or interest letter to apply under a PNP.

Step 5 – Get an ITA: Get an ITA- After clear the all minimum requirements of the CRS score, the candidate can receive an invitation to apply. The candidate then gets 60 days of time duration to apply to IRCC with all the required documents.

Step 6 – Medical and PCC: In the sixth stage, the candidate must go under a medical examination and also obtain a PCC- Police Clearance Certificate.

Step 7 – Application reviewed by IRCC: The applicant’s PR application will review in this stage by IRCC. They will check all the submitted documents of the candidates. This total procedure will take 4 to 6 months.

Step 8 – The biometric fee – In this stage, the candidate's biometry and fingerprints will be done.

Step 9 – Passport Submission request & COPR – In the last stage, the candidate's passport will be stamped. After that candidate will get the Confirmation of Permanent Residency (COPR).

The fee of the Canada PR process

  • ECA – $227 CAD to $322 CAD (per person)
  • IELTS – INR 14,000 ($250 CAD) (per person)

Duration and validity of Canada PR visa

The holder of Canada PR visa can live, work, and study for five years in Canada. The candidate has to live 730 days in the country to complete his or her residency obligations. If the holder lives for 3 years or more in the country, he or she may apply for Canadian citizenship.

The candidate may lose Canada's permanent resident status mainly for three reasons.

The processing time for your Canada PR visa request is defined as the time it takes IRCC to process your request. Processing time is the time between the day they receive your request and the day they decide on your request. COVID-19 has affected Canada’s immigration. Currently, the receipt of new applications for PR continues. Incomplete applications will be retained and reviewed within 90 days.
