Canada Immigration Demand Occupation list

IRCC on a regular basis releases the list of occupations that are in-demand in Canada. This list comprises the occupations that are facing the shortage of skilled workers in the labour market. If you have work experience in any one of these occupations, your process of moving to Canada can become a much easier process as a permanent resident.

What is the National Occupational Classification (NOC) Code?

NOC is a recognized and standardized system by the IRCC that has a four-digit code and job descriptions for every job in the Canadian labour market. Choosing the right NOC code is one of the vital processes for your Canada PR application. In case your NOC code does not match your work experience, your application may get rejected or returned.

NOC Skill Type

NOC has 10 skill types for the occupations:

0 – Management occupations

1 – Business, finance, and administration occupations

2 – Natural and applied sciences and related occupations

3 – Health occupations

4 – Occupations in education, law and social, community and government services

5 – Occupations in art, culture, recreation and sport

6 – Sales and service occupations

7 – Trades, transport and equipment operators and related occupations

8 – Natural resources, agriculture, and related production occupations

9 – Occupations in manufacturing and utilities The first digit of most NOC codes identifies the Skill Type of the occupation.

NOC Skill Levels

There are four types of NOC skill levels:

NOC Skill level A: Occupations that usually require university education

NOC Skill level B: Occupations that usually require college education or apprenticeship training

NOC Skill level C: Occupations that usually require secondary school and/or occupation-specific training

NOC Skill level D: Occupations that usually require on-the-job training
